Memories of my Uncle!

I found this photo that I am guessing my Aunt took of my dad and my Uncle in my dads room, so I scanned it so I could scrap it. I think this was when they were staying at a hotel and dad went to visit them at a half way mark to where they were heading. Odds are they were on their way to New Jersey!

This really brought back some memories of when I was little and my dad would go to visit my aunt and uncle for a weekend and sometimes I would get to go! My aunt always made crepes and we put butter and jelly on them and roll them up! My uncle passed away not too much longer after this photo was taken.
This layout is also a result of learning a technique in PSE for rounded corners! I am finding I am adjusting to PSE fairly well so far, but I have not gotten into any of the hard stuff yet, still just the basic use of the tools and such. I am having fun learning and scrapping a memory at the same time.
I am a bit under the weather at the moment but thought I post my layout since its been a few days since I blogged. I see I forgot to log into my free 4Shared account so now all my old download links are invalid. I updated the Scrapbook Max Freebies, which there is only four now.
Unless Scrapbook Max is Mac compatible I will not be adding anymore freebies to them. I will only be offering the four in the meantime with fingers crossed they will update! Unless I can use my son’s computer once in while, we shall see!
Memories of Geauga Lake

This is a layout of a picture I scanned that was taken of myself and my daughter, when we had a girls day years (and years) ago and went to Geauga Lake. The amusement park is now closed too! We dressed up in some old fashioned clothes to have our picture taken!

This layout is also an end result to a lesson in PSE I learned and that is the white border (or stroke) around the photo. I also added one around the dress and hat element so they would stand out a little more too, to give the layout an even more vintage appearance!

I got another layout down and again was one I did for a tutorial lesson. I was learning how recolor in PSE. I have to tell you I am really missing the old way in PSP, it just to me, seemed easier, plus I was able to save the settings once I found a color and shade I liked and thought hey I might use this again!

For the tutorial lesson, I took a pink shade paper that was in the kit and recolored it to the yellow/green shade to make the border trim under the polka dot paper on the left side. It took a little playing with the sliders in the hue area of PSE but after a bit of playing I finally got it! I love this photo, its often that the girls, Misty (in back) and Twinkle will lay together, either on the love seat or on a bed, but it was a rare to see them share where they were laying!!

I got another lesson done and thought I post my end results. I learned how to cut paper using shapes and tools in PSE (that is photoshop elements, I think I may just use the shortcut as I post for now on).

Kit used: Best Furr-iends by Connie Prince (Hummie’s Border Template #3 for cutting for border on left side)
I also learned about credits. While most of what I read do not require it, I decided for from this post forward I will put the name of the kit and the designer who made it when I post my layouts. I don’t ever want anyone to feel I don’t give credit where credit is deserved. Sometimes here at home with so much going on I tend to forget here and there. Sometimes I do post a older page I scrapped for my walk down Memory Lane and those may not always have the credit but I will do my best from this point on to be more faithful with it.
Hard to do the video lessons

Well I am having a hard time doing the video lessons of the tutorials I am taking in the evening or when my dad is around. I can’t hear very well with the television on in the background. This is where I wish I could just have my desk down the hall in our bedroom, but hubby just would rather I didn’t. I think he doesn’t want to be left out here alone with dad in the evenings when I would be working on things. I have a layout done but realized I didn’t date it. I think I may go back in, add the date and save again before I share it on my blog. One of the lessons talked about credits and coming up with a system with your kits. My system is I save by where I purchase them at. After reading some things out there I am thinking for future end things of using one of those email archiving services, and saving every receipt so if ever asked where I got my kits I can have them all without bogging down my email account or worrying about if we change providers and having to get a new email address, I would not lose what I would have in a saved email file. If a store ever closes, which some have come and gone, I have the ability to still keep track of my receipts and proof of purchases that way!
Today I almost got the perfect picture of Twinkle, but hubby happened to pull in at the same time and she heard him and woke right up. Hubby says they think of him as the chuck wagon when he comes pulling in, since he is the one who feeds them in the morning and he likes to feed them when he comes home. Too funny but I hope to catch her sleeping like she was today, it was just adorable!

This is a layout I made from a one of my tutorial lessons I am done for Photoshop Elements, learning the tools and this is a kit free layout! I did not use any kits for this one! I thought I share as this is the first layout tutorial even though I made two layouts already using the program. I am having fun learning, but find I can only do the videos in the afternoon because its the only time I can stay focused and concentrate!

40th Birthday Cake!

I thought I share my second layout using Photoshop Elements and mind you this is before starting the classes I am taking. This is a picture of the ice cream cake from my 40th birthday last year:

I think I am getting better with playing with the drop shadow on this one. I wish there was a way to save the setting like in PSP and who knows maybe I will learn there is a way to do that as I go! But I wrote down at the time I was doing my layout so make sure I used the same drop shadow on each layer this time around. I love the colors of this one! Naturally because its pink right!
Today was just a rough day, its been a rough week actually but they come and they go. Hubby and my son went to eat dinner as I wasn’t hungry so I went to lay down a while. I came out after an hour or so feeling dehydrated and got something to drink and thought I see what hubby was doing, he was checking www.supplementcritic.com. He really does read up on things on the web and he and my son are going to start lifting weights this fall. He has been pricing them when we go out shopping and watching online at a few sites too. Dad came home unexpectedly, I guess because no one was around at the mall and the car show did not start until 6. He said he was going to grab a burger for dinner but acted like I was suppose to cook for him. I didn’t budge, I can feel a migraine coming on so I thought I just come post my layout, since I will be gone tomorrow and get myself ready for bed and hit the hay early!
